2005 USFTL Cleveland Hall Of Fame

Robin C. Palmer

Induction: Contributor
Presenter:
Michael Cihon
City/State:  Mentor, Ohio
Date of Birth:  12/9/56
Spouse:  Wayne
Occupation: Assistant City Editor at the Lake County News Herald Newspaper
Career: 25 years (1981-2005) at the Lake County News Herald Newspaper. 19 years in Sports (4 years as a Sports Reporter; 15 years as Assistant Sports Editor), 6 years as Assistant City Editor.
Special Awards: Won numerous Area and State Awards for writing  “Newspaper Section” articles.
Most Memorable Moment:  According to Robin, “Sports as always has been her first love!” She turned her love of Sports into a life long career and eventually became the first female Sports Reporter working at the News Herald Newspaper. As her career escalated she watched as the USFTL Flag & Touch Football programs escalated in the area as well. Robin feels a direct correlation between the growth of her career and the growth of USFTL Flag & Touch Football. Two memorable monuments from Robins Flag Football past are, the time when Robin put an article about the Gibbs Flag Football team in the Sports section of the New Herald and received some local criticism for it, but her Sports Editor stood behind her decision 100%. The second moment was when Robin stayed in the Sports department until past 2:00am waiting for scores to be called in from a St. Louis tournament from Michael Cihon of the Gibbs Flag Football team. This just goes to show the type of dedication that Robin has put into her career!
